We serve our students and families to the highest potential, ensuring the learning, development, and academic success for every student through inclusion of all regardless of race, gender, sexuality, or learning style, and actively diminishing manifestations of discrimination and prejudice.
Inclusiveness is being committed to allyship in creating a positive, nurturing, and engaging school culture and environment that leads to conditions in which every student can thrive. Within our beautiful and diverse community there are many representations, intersections, and lived experiences. Inclusiveness is striving to raise up all voices to be heard equally in the literal and figurative sense.
Tucson Unified School District is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination based on disability, race, color, religion/religious beliefs, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, or national origin, as well as retaliation for opposition to such discrimination. The Board believes in fostering a safe educational environment in which every student has equal access to all school programs and activities.

"A rather broad term, Asian/Pacific encompasses all of the Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia (New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji and the Solomon Islands), Micronesia (Marianas, Guam, Wake Island, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia) and Polynesia (New Zealand, Hawaiian Islands, Rotuma, Midway Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Cook Islands, French Polynesia and Easter Island)."

"Mental Health Month raises awareness of trauma and the impact it can have on the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of children, families, and communities. Mental Health Month was established in 1949 to increase awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness in Americans' lives, and to celebrate recovery from mental illness. Mental health is essential for a person's overall health. Prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can recover from mental disorders and live full and productive lives." Welcome to our new department website. We strive to be more clear and up-to-date to better serve the Tucson Unified community. Please be patient as we add content and develop this experience over time.

The public has heard us, and has spoken. The unprecedented outpouring of support at the January 30, 2024 Board Meeting was a clear message of support for EDI work in TUSD.
We are hosting a very special, very limited in-person seating (about 60) State of EDI Address in person on Monday, April 29, 2024 • 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Doubletree Hotel Reid Park • 445 S. Alvernon Way. Those wishing to join virtually can tune in at the same time!

May is Asthma Awareness Month
"A time to educate friends, family, and patients about asthma and promote awareness about how this serious, sometimes life-threatening, chronic respiratory disease can be controlled.

May is ALS Awareness Month
"ALS is a progressive disease in which a person’s brain loses connection with the muscles, slowly taking away their ability to walk, talk, eat, and eventually breathe. There is no cure for ALS, but there is hope.
Each May, our community comes together to raise awareness of the disease, share stories from people living with ALS, show our support for caregivers, families, and care workers, and shine a spotlight on those who dedicate their lives to finding a cure."
